Acting and Voiceover
Since the early 1990s the direction of Hugh's professional career veered away from theatre and televion roles into the fascinating and challenging world of "the voiceover guy".
Over the last twenty years, Hugh has compiled quite a body of work as a television and documentary series narrator, as well as providing many voices for radio and television commercials.
Projects have included:
-
From 2000 to the present, the Seven Network have continued to use Hugh's clear and insightful reading of text as their narrator for many of their factual and documentary programmes.
-
Some of these include -
"Popstars" , "The Body Specialists", "Most Shocking", "Most Daring", "World Around Us", "Dog Squad", "Highway Patrol"
During 2007 - 2009 Hugh was offered the role of Narrator for "Milly & Molly", a 13 part Animated Children's Television series based on the popular childrens' books. The second series was completed in 2009.
2009 saw the completion of post production on the second series of "The Video Diaries" - "Stonehenge or Bust" (Hear it on my podcast) and publication of a poetry book and CD "The Cafe Village by the Sea"
In 2005 / 2006 Hugh was chosen to read four books for ABC Audio, released in ABC shops.
"Great Australian Racing Stories",
"Great Australian Fly-Fshing Stories",
"Cobbers - Stories of Galllipoli 1915"
"What do you do with them on Sundays?"
In early 2004, Hugh was able to draw on his experience as a character actor, when entertaining audiences as one of the original cast of "Under Mulga Wood" - an Australian "Imitation" of Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood", which toured parts of NSW.
-
Also in early 2004, Hugh worked with musician Peter Winkler and singer Jeannie Lewis on a production of "The Cat who walked by Himself", an adaptation of a Rudyard Kipling story.
Hugh was responsible for the narration and the voices of all the other characters, except the Woman, obviously!
